The artistic process, for me, is like the foreigner who arrives and points out something obvious you’ve been doing your whole life and never questioned – and from that moment on, you can’t help but notice it.

An artist is the person that can do that from within their own situation – that can pull out those sensations, those details, those intricacies which make up the invisible human experience and put them on display so that, in experiencing the artform, we are drawn to live again, in hyperreality, that which makes us who we are. Art does not have to be literal, but it does have to engage or contrast with what we know.

The most abstract forms of creation touch us because, through their complex cacophony of signifiers, they reflect the soup of our modern existence. The creation of art is the revitalisation of a moment passed, and an intensification of that which cannot be experienced at full force during our every day life.
